Background

With over 20 years of international search experience, Giles acts as a senior advisor and counsel to Chairs, CEOs and HR Directors. His focus tends towards succession, major organzational change and transformation, growth agendas, IPOs and restructuring. Giles is a trusted partner to clients, working in both the UK and Asia, supporting strategic thinking on global search needs and talent management.

Organisations, now more than ever, need leaders who can drive transformation, performance and culture in a purpose driven way. Giles plays a lead role in supporting clients to find that leadership whilst challenging their thinking around diversity and corporate social responsibility issues. He is passionate about improving social mobility and is a mentor for Making the Leap.

The healthy competitiveness Giles brings to the workplace can also be seen across the active life he leads outside of work including cycling, rugby and water sports. Family, friends and travel are his main motivations.

An economist by background, Giles spent his early career with The Economist and the Economist Intelligence Unit.  He holds an MA in Middle East Politics and Arabic from the University of Durham and a BA in International Relations and Hispanic Studies from the University of Aberdeen.

Community

When we founded Hedley May, we made a commitment to make a positive impact on our broader communities. We focus on providing opportunity to the underserved through mentorship, internships, workshops and other career development initiatives. We are also dedicated advocates and supporters of numerous social mobility programs.
